One firm, both coasts

Gross Design + Build is a veteran-owned, family-operated design-build firm working in two markets: Greater Los Angeles, California and the Greater Tampa Bay area of Florida. In both, the promise is identical. One team designs your project, manages the permits, and builds it, under our own general contractor license in each state. In Florida, that license is CGC1535040.

Tampa Bay clients work with the same partners who lead every project: Matt Thompson, a seasoned general contractor and combat veteran, and Michael Gross, an accomplished building designer, together for 13 years with more than 50 years of combined experience.

What we build in Tampa Bay

Our focus in Florida mirrors our focus in California: new custom homes, home additions, and accessory dwelling units, with full home renovations taken on selectively when the project and the fit are right. Every design is drawn for Florida living and Florida code, from hurricane considerations to indoor-outdoor flow.

We serve the Greater Tampa Bay area, including Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and the surrounding communities.

It starts with a consultation at your property. We listen to your goals and talk honestly about scope, feasibility, budget, and fit before anything is drawn. From there, we design and refine the project with you through 3D renderings, prepare and manage the permit package, and build with disciplined management and uncompromising craftsmanship, until the vision and the finished home are one and the same.
